In this collection, my short-term presence alongside unknown individuals on city buses in Tehran is portrayed. The faces of the individuals in these photos capture the moment when
their gaze suddenly falls upon their own faces (and not mine) on their mobile screens. It’s the moment when, in one image, their gaze intersects with that of a stranger, and they see themselves beside someone they don’t know. These moments are devoid of predictable reactions. The subject of the photos are people who know nothing about each other; the only common moment of our lives is this fleeting meeting of brief gazes on the mobile screen captured by a 2-megapixel camera. This collection highlights the companionship and non-verbal communication of individuals who may never meet each other again, even on this crystalline screen.
